Sea pub

Monika had an idea to go sailing. I don’t know where the idea originated though: from a glass of Martini, she had consumed or perhaps the painting of dolphins on the wall of our favourite pub? All of us jumped at the idea (sure glad we have a skipper - Tim J). A search on the net with our "smart" phones commenced. Everything was arranged in a few minutes. David found the SAIL CITY site and upon brief consideration, asked: "So for which vessel should I make a reservation?"

And so the idea materialised. Within a month we "found"ourselves in Biograd na Moru, where we quickly became keen on the spacious sailboat, and even more enthusiastic of Karin’s proposition to postpone the cabin unpacking until the end of the day and depart right away. Monika sat in the cockpit, surrounded by nautical maps, holding a GPS device in her hand. It didn’t take long for her to decide she wanted to become a sailor. We were all overwhelmed with an exceptional feeling the moment we set sail and switched off the engine.

Height makes you dizzy

We continued our voyage between the Kornati Islands and topped off our bathing experience with some scuba diving. Peter was always the first in the water, and this time to the surprise of everyone, he recovered an old amphora from the water. Karin immediately cautioned him to return it to the sea. When leaving the Kornati Islands, Monika, to the general surprise of everyone wished to take a panoramic photo, as the sight of these beautiful islands is nowhere to be seen around the world. So we tied her to a climbing belt (it is fortunate that Peter always keeps a wide range of sports requisites handy) and elevated her up the twenty-five metre mast. "If you jump from the mast, I’ll jump from the cliff", Peter challenged. This was not a problem for him, but imagine Lea (incidentally, it was obvious that something was going on between the two) who is not really a natural-born diver attempting the jump. Luckily, she dived from a substantially lower height and was rewarded with thunderous applause for her courage.

Every year is a tad different

At the end of our vacation, which ended with Monika’s delicious fish soup, we were already excited about our future holidays, which would again be "a tad different".
