Day 1: Saturday, September 5, 2026

At 11 a.m. we set off towards Pula, arriving at 3 p.m. Sebastian is already waiting for us. Hanzi and Janko receive the necessary documents for Natti, Bavaria 46 Cruiser, at the JADRANKA/ANGELINA office after a short wait. Since it’s too late to depart, we stay at the POLESANA marina. We have dinner at the marina’s restaurant, then hold a meeting on deck about the sailing route. We decide to first sail to the island of UNIJE, then adjust our course according to the wind and weather conditions.

Day 2: Sunday, September 6, 2026

At 9:10 a.m., Hanzi, our skipper, sets sail towards UNIJE. A northeast wind blows, initially at 15 knots, later increasing to 20 to 25 knots. We sail with just the jib and reach speeds of 8 knots over the waves. At 2 p.m., Hanzi moors at the pier in UNIJE harbor. We then relax and swim. The day ends with dinner at KONOBA kod JOZE, where we enjoy sea bass – the food is good and prices reasonable.

Day 3: Monday, September 7, 2026

At 9:20 a.m., Sebastian unties the ropes and sails on a course of 130° towards LOŠINJ. The wind is weak, so we motor to the BALVANIDA bay near Mali Lošinj, where we stop for swimming between 12:40 and 2:45 p.m. After a snack, we continue and at 5 p.m. a marina worker with 50 years of experience from the USA welcomes us at the pier on the island of OLIB.

We spend the rest of the day enjoying the peaceful island town, swimming and resting. Janko also meets Friederun Pleterski, author of the book House in Dalmatia, but does not dare to approach her. On the way to the SIDRO restaurant, we visit the defensive tower KULA. The day ends with an excellent dinner – ćevapčići, pljeskavica, and fish are superb.

Day 4: Tuesday, September 8, 2026

At 10:30 a.m., we leave OLIB and sail towards RAB. There is almost no wind and the sky is cloudy. Suddenly, dolphins surprise us during the sail; one swims directly under our boat.

Between 1:55 and 2:50 p.m., we anchor in the JURJEVICA bay on the island of PAG. Swimming and a hearty snack with sausages and cheese prepared by our head chef Franz give us new energy for the journey ahead. A jugo wind blows at 15 knots, allowing pleasant sailing at 6 knots.

RAB is already in sight and at 3:55 p.m. we moor at the pier. The town is lively and full of tourists, so after dinner we retreat to the deck where we quietly enjoy some "herbal tea."

Day 5: Wednesday, September 9, 2026

At 8:40 a.m., under sunny weather, we leave the beautiful town of RAB. Sebastian is at the helm, and our next destination is the island of KRK and its namesake town. On the way, we want to visit the former women's prison on the island of SVETI GRGUR. At 11:40 a.m., we abandon the attempt to moor at the local pier because a tourist boat is approaching, so we continue towards KRK.

During the sail, the sky darkens and it starts to rain. At 2:05 p.m., we moor at the pier in KRK harbor in the rain. Since there is no marina worker around, a friendly skipper helps us moor and hands us the mooring rope. After a while, the marina worker finally arrives – on a bike and wearing a blue shirt. With a smile, he explains: "I see you coming into the harbor and mooring, but I’m not going out in the rain – I only have a jersey." At least he has a sense of humor. He even lets himself be convinced that our 46-foot yacht is actually only 40 feet long.

Daniel wants pizza and finds the CAPLIN pizzeria. We wait ten minutes for a free table, then the pizzas arrive just four and a half minutes after ordering – almost suspiciously fast. The taste matches – quite average. We take some leftovers back to the deck, where the next day they find new, apparently less demanding customers – the fish.

Day 6: Thursday, September 10, 2026

Dschei Ar (JR) departs already at 8:08 a.m., as the weather forecast worries us somewhat. Our goal is CRES, but the weather looks quite threatening from the start. Lightning splits the sky, accompanied by thunder, and later the bora wind strengthens somewhat, though without strong gusts. The Kvarner channel shows its typically unfriendly side – the sea is rough and restless.

Daniel wants to go to VALUN, but the skipper decides on the safer option – the harbor of Cres – due to the unpleasant bora. This proves to be a wise decision, as the wind is noticeably weaker in the harbor. It’s worth mentioning the professional help from the marina workers, who meet us by boat, guide us to the mooring, and hand us the mooring ropes.

In the rain, we then head to the MARITIMO buffet. Satellite images show the rain cloud will soon pass – and indeed, when we return to the boat, the ground is almost dry.

Day 7: Friday, September 11, 2026

Unfortunately, the last day of our sailing has arrived. At 8:30 a.m., we leave the town of Cres, stop at the gas station near Cres marina, and then continue towards our starting marina POLESANA in PULA.

At 11 a.m., our round fender suddenly decides to go on a solo journey. We perform a FOB maneuver ("fender overboard") and Sebastian successfully retrieves the runaway crew member back on board. The sailing is quite unpleasant as the sea is very rough. Janko also has to cut short his siesta in the forward cabin because the waves mercilessly toss him around.

At 3 p.m., we arrive at POLESANA marina. We then wait a long time for the boat’s technical inspection and the diver’s check. When both inspections are finally completed, we hand over the documents without complications and get our deposit back.

For farewell, we treat ourselves to our "last dinner" at the marina’s restaurant, thus concluding this year’s sailing adventure.

The trip was especially interesting because, unlike the central Adriatic coast, it led us to places not yet overrun by mass tourism. Accordingly, prices in taverns and restaurants remain quite reasonable, and the food was good to very good everywhere.

The mood on board was excellent throughout. There was no shortage of laughter, jokes, and friendly teasing, so the sailing will be remembered not only for the places visited and sea experiences but especially for the good company and pleasant shared moments.
