The National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago is the largest in Italy and the beautiful and varied landscape of the island is protected. We recommend sailing to the shores of the islands of Capraia, Elba, Giglio and Giannutri. Liguria lies on the Ligurian coast west of the Apennine Peninsula. Due to the significant differences in morphology and climate, Liguria is divided into two territories, known as the Eastern littoral (Riviera di levante) and the Western littoral (Riviera di ponente), roughly between which lies the capital city of Genoa. The eastern littoral, with its high rocky coastline, is the end of the Apennines, while the western coast occupies the extreme slopes of the Alps, which descend to the sea with a rather flat, sometimes sandy, coastline.
