Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean, separated from the French island of Corsica by the Strait of Bonifacio. The capital of Sardinia is the city of Cagliari, situated on a hill with a magnificent view over the whole bay. The Sardinian coastline, with its many islands, natural beauty, rocky shores, and white sandy beaches, covers 1,834 km² and is a popular destination for sailors, windsurfers, and other water sports enthusiasts. The sailing season in Sardinia is from May to October, but this area requires some experience and good navigation skills. We recommend checking local weather forecasts before sailing. Challenging sailing conditions are caused by the winds of maestral, ponente and scirocco. The highest peak on the island is Punta La Marmora (1834 m).
